Therapy for Kids and Teens in Los Angeles

Supporting Your Child's Emotional Growth Every Step of the Way

As a parent, watching your child struggle—whether it's with anxiety, behavior, friendships, or big life transitions—can be incredibly tough. You want to help, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. We offer child and teen therapy in Los Angeles to help your child build the tools they need to feel safe, connected, and more confident in themselves.

Our team of warm, experienced therapists work closely with families to help kids and teens navigate life’s challenges—big and small. Therapy is a space where your child or teen can feel heard, supported, and understood without judgment.

Therapy for Kids (Ages 7–12)

You might notice your child is more anxious than usual, getting into trouble at school, having trouble with friends, or showing big emotions at home. Kids don’t always have the words to tell us how they feel—but their behavior often speaks volumes.

We use developmentally appropriate approaches like play therapy, art, and storytelling to help kids:

  • Manage anxiety, worries, and fears

  • Improve attention and focus (especially with ADHD)

  • Navigate divorce or changes in the family

  • Learn to manage anger and big feelings

  • Build social skills and confidence

  • Heal from trauma or loss

Therapy gives children the space to express what’s on their mind in ways that feel natural and safe. Our therapists utilize age-appropriate techniques, including play therapy and cognitive-behavioral strategies, to help children articulate their feelings and develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Therapy for Teens (Ages 13–17)

The teenage years can be full of ups and downs. Hormones, social pressure, identity exploration, and school stress can create a perfect storm of emotions. If your teen is feeling overwhelmed, withdrawn, or just “not like themselves,” we’re here to help.

Our teen therapists create a space where teenagers can open up, feel validated, and develop healthier ways to cope with challenges like:

  • Depression or mood swings

  • Social anxiety and self-doubt

  • Body image concerns or eating struggles

  • Academic stress and burnout

  • Family conflicts or communication struggles

  • Identity, gender, or sexuality exploration

  • Low self-esteem and feeling “not good enough”

We partner with teens (and their caregivers) to help them feel more grounded and resilient—while respecting their need for autonomy.

My Approach

When I work with children in therapy, I focus on creating a warm, safe space where they feel genuinely seen and accepted. I believe that children express themselves best not always through words, but through play, creativity, and behavior—so I meet them where they are, whether that's on the floor with toys, through drawing, or simply by being present and patient. I aim to build a trusting relationship that helps them feel secure enough to explore difficult feelings or experiences at their own pace.

I also work closely with caregivers, helping them understand their child’s emotional world and supporting them in creating a consistent, nurturing environment at home. For me, it's about helping each child feel empowered, understood, and capable of growth.

I know that finding the right therapist for your child or teen can feel overwhelming. I focus on building real, authentic relationships with both children and parents. I believe in collaboration—not just with your child, but with you.

You know your child best, and I’m here to work alongside you. Whether it’s through regular parent check-ins or guidance on how to support therapy goals at home, we keep you in the loop—always with your child’s needs at the center

Common Questions Parents Ask

  • It depends on your child’s age, personality, and needs. For younger kids, play therapy or expressive therapies often work best. For older kids and teens, we often use talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or a mix of approaches to help them process what they’re going through in a way that feels natural and supportive.

  • There’s no “right” age to start therapy—some children as young as 3 or 4 can benefit. Here at Diversified Therapy, we work with kids starting at age 7. If you notice changes in your child’s mood, behavior, or ability to cope with everyday situations, it’s worth reaching out.

  • If your child is showing signs of stress—like anxiety, sadness, outbursts, sleep issues, or withdrawing from activities—they may benefit from therapy. Therapy is just as helpful for building skills as it is for managing challenges.

  • Look for a therapist who specializes in working with children or teens. You and your family may benefit from a clinician who has experience supporting the youth and their families.
